Extended Forward-Backward Algorithm

open access: yes, 2013
We propose an extended forward-backward algorithm for approximating a zero of a maximal monotone operator which can be split as the extended sum of two maximal monotone operators.

Constrained minimization for monotonic reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes13th Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference, 1997
The authors present several innovations in a method for monotonic reconstructions. It is based on the application of constrained minimization techniques for the imposition of monotonicity on a reconstruction. In addition, they present extensions of several classical TVD limiters to a genuinely multidimensional setting.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

String-Averaging Projected Subgradient Methods for Constrained Minimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We consider constrained minimization problems and propose to replace the projection onto the entire feasible region, required in the Projected Subgradient Method (PSM), by projections onto the individual sets whose intersection forms the entire feasible ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Normalized solutions for Kirchhoff-type equations with combined nonlinearities: the $L^2$-critical case

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
In this paper, we consider the existence of normalized solutions for the following Kirchhoff-type problem: \begin{equation*} -\left (a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^{N}}|\nabla u|^{2}dx\right)\Delta u=\lambda u+|u|^{p-2}u+\mu |u|^{q-2}u\quad \mbox{in} \ \mathbb{R}^{

Solving Generalized Mixed Equilibria, Variational Inequalities, and Constrained Convex Minimization

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We propose implicit and explicit iterative algorithms for finding a common element of the set of solutions of the minimization problem for a convex and continuously Fréchet differentiable functional, the set of solutions of a finite family of generalized

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...
