The transport of protein aggregates to the vacuole suggests a role for lipid droplets in waste disposal in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Lipid droplets (LD) act as cellular ‘garbage trucks’ that transport cytosolic protein aggregates to the vacuole for degradation in yeast. Protein aggregates are docked to lipid droplets in a triacylglycerol‐dependent manner, transported through the cytoplasm, and transferred to the insoluble protein deposit (IPOD) at the vacuole.

3SD: Rotational symmetry single‐shot denoising in fluorescence microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Image noise is a fundamental problem in fluorescence microscopy analysis, especially in live cell imaging applications where the number of detected photons is limited due to low power of excitation lasers to prevent phototoxicity during extended imaging experiments.

Evaluating integrative strategies for incorporating phenotypic features in spatial transcriptomics

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract The key advantage of spatial transcriptomics (ST) technologies lies in the spatial domain: these techniques not only offer an unprecedented opportunity to interrogate intact biological samples in a spatially informed manner, but also set the stage for integration with other imaging‐based modalities.

Beyond single cells: Ten years of commercial lattice light‐sheet microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Lattice light‐sheet microscopy (LLSM) enables gentle, rapid, volumetric fluorescence imaging of living biological systems. The technique employs Bessel beam interference to produce a light‐sheet which retains its thickness over a relatively large field‐of‐view compared to other light‐sheets.

A neural network‐based Monte Carlo X‐ray (MC X‐ray) approach for quantitative analysis of homogeneous multi‐element bulk samples at 20 kV

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Accurate quantitative analysis of homogeneous bulk samples is critical in materials science and mineral industry applications, yet conventional standards‐based Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) quantitative analysis remains reliable and widely used.

Analysis of Muscle Fibre Orientation in the Human Medial and Lateral Pterygoid Muscles Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging: A Methodological Study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
This study used diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) tractography to assess in vivo 3D muscle fibre orientation of the medial and lateral pterygoid muscles in ten healthy men. Scans were performed at simulated mandibular rest and 25‐mm open‐mouth positions. DTI tractography successfully visualised the internal fibre architecture. During mouth opening, marked

The Accuracy Smoothness Dilemma in Prediction: A Novel Multivariate M‐SSA Forecast Approach

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Forecasting presents a complex estimation challenge, as it involves balancing multiple, often conflicting, priorities and objectives. Conventional forecast optimization methods typically emphasize a single metric, such as minimizing the mean squared error (MSE), which may neglect other crucial aspects of predictive performance. To address this
