Activating a Metallization Switch for Record Hydrogen Evolution in Single‐Atom Modified Polar MOF Piezocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Piezocatalytic hydrogen evolution enables the conversion of mechanical energy into chemical fuels, but its efficiency is constrained by a trade‐off between piezoelectric polarization and electronic conductivity. Strong piezoelectric polarization is essential for sufficient driving force, yet highly polar materials typically suffer from poor ...

Self‐Regulating Sodium‐Ion Battery Materials: From Phase Reconstruction to Functional Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐regulating sodium‐ion batteries hinge on programmable phase behavior in layered oxides, interphases that renew without growth, and electrolytes that steer solvation and chemistry. This review distills mechanisms into design rules that span composition, site and entropy tuning, and self‐buffering anodes, linking operando evidence to choices and ...

Chiral Metal Halide Perovskites for Spin‐Polarized Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral metal–halide perovskites offer a route to circularly polarized light without external polarizers. This Perspective compares two spin‐light emitting diode concepts: intrinsically chiral emissive layers and chiral spin‐filter interlayers that inject spin‐polarized carriers into efficient achiral emitters.

Oxygen Evolution Reaction Catalysts for Acidic‐Media CO2 Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Acidic‐media CO2 electroreduction (CO2R) could decarbonize chemical production, despite relying on rare‐earth elements for anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Transferring the learnings from mature sister technologies (water electrolysis) could accelerate technological development.

Robust Learning of Consumer Preferences

Operations Research, 2022
When companies develop new products, there are often competing designs from which to choose to take to market. How to decide? Traditional methods, such as focus groups, do not scale to the modern marketplace in which tastes evolve rapidly. In “Robust Learning of Consumer Preferences,” Feng, Caldentey, and Ryan develop a data-driven approach to ...

Consumer Acceptance or Consumer Preference

1952
Data drawn from studies designed to measure consumer acceptance or consumer preference are frequently misinterpreted simply because it is not clear which is being measured. It is necessary to know whether consumers can distinguish between alternatives before their preferences can be established.
