Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Tire-Pavement Friction Characteristics with Elastic Properties of Asphalt Pavements

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
The skid-resisting performance of pavement is a critical factor in traffic safety. Recent studies primarily analyze this behavior by examining the macro or micro texture of the pavement.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

[Retracted] Effect of a dual tire pressure on the design parameters of thick asphalt pavements using finite element freeware

open access: yesDyna, 2016
The effect of a dual tire pressure on the design parameters of thick asphalt pavements using finite element freeware EverStressFE©1.0 is evaluated. This is trying to represent more adjusted the footprint shape and intensity of stress generated by the ...

A Holistic Approach Towards Surface Topography Analyses for Ice Tribology Applications

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2021
A surface texture can be subdivided into three categories based on the magnitude of its wavelengths, i.e., macro-geometrical form, waviness, and roughness (from largest to smallest).

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.
