Cohesive Crack with Partially Contacting Faces in Section of the Road Covering

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2012
The case of a longitudinal crack with interfacial bonds in section of a road covering with partially contacting faces is considered. It is considered, that under action of external loading (cave-in of a wheel in a rough surface of a covering) in a zone ...

Contact Area Analysis by FEM with Plating Layer for Electrical Contact

open access: yesIEICE Transactions on Electronics, 2009
Electrical contacts are the most important parts of electrical circuits, and many reliability problems of the circuits are related to contact failure. The contact resistance is one of the important factors for assessing connector reliability, and thus the prediction of contact resistance is essential to designing electrical terminals.

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Vocal fold contact area [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1987
Vocal fold contact area is generally inferred from the electroglottographic (EGG) signal. To our knowledge, only one attempt has been reported to measure contact area directly [Scherer, Druker, and Titze, Vocal Fold Physiology Conference, Tokyo, Japan (1987)].

A new tip area function for instrumented nanoindentation at extremely small contact depths

open access: yes, 2011
The accuracy of measurement of mechanical properties of a material using instrumented nanoindentation at extremely small penetration depths heavily relies on the determination of the contact area of the indenter.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Dynamic Behaviors of Contact Surfaces in the Sliding Friction of a Soft Material

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2007
It is known that detachment waves are generated on the surface of a soft material when it is slid on a hard surface under certain conditions. In the present study, the variation in the contact area that arises when a plate of a cross-linked polymer, poly-

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.
