In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A microscopical model for electric‐mechanical contact [PDF]
AbstractIn this paper a model to deal with electric‐mechanical contact problems in the framework of the FEM is presented. On the basis of some micro‐mechanical studies, a new approach is developed to define the non‐linear constitutive law that governs the normal force‐displacement behaviour and the electric resistance of the contacting surfaces.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Markov Model M/M/m/K in Contact Center
Our paper deals with a contact center dimensioning. The main task of a contact center is to offer services to customers. The most simple and genuine way of communication with the contact center agent is by phone.

Chemical aging of large-scale randomly rough frictional contacts
It has been shown that contact aging due to chemical reactions in single asperity contacts can have a significant effect on friction. However, it is currently unknown how chemically-induced contact aging of friction depends on roughness that is typically

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The contact line behaviour of solid-liquid-gas diffuse-interface models
A solid-liquid-gas moving contact line is considered through a diffuse-interface model with the classical boundary condition of no-slip at the solid surface.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The Measurement of the Impact Time to Evaluate the Plate Thickness
The present study proposes a simple and low-cost indirect method for estimating the thickness of plates by measuring the contact time (TC) generated by the impact of a free-falling sphere. The theoretical model has been developed on Tsai approximation of

Using model of plague epizootic process in great gerbils (Rhombomys opimus) settlements, authors showed that plague epizooty could develop at low level of epizootic contact. In this case the size of epizootic site and the number of infected colonies were
