Local Detailed Balance : A Microscopic Derivation

open access: yes, 2014
Thermal contact is the archetype of non-equilibrium processes driven by constant non-equilibrium constraints when the latter are enforced by reservoirs exchanging conserved microscopic quantities.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Modification and Control Technology of Contact Zone of the Straight Bevel Gear

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2020
The GB/T 11365-2019 provides that the tooth contact pattern of straight bevel gear is agreed by both supply and customer, and there is no direct relationship between tooth contact pattern and gear accuracy classification.

Tooth Contact Analysis and Adjustment Calculation of Real Tooth Surfaces of Hypoid Gears

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2023
For the purpose of adjusting the calculation of the contact pattern of real hypoid gears, the double third-power spline surface is used for fitting tooth surfaces of pinions and gears accurately according to the measurement results of the gear surface ...

Computerized Modeling and Loaded Tooth Contact Analysis of Hypoid Gears Manufactured by Face Hobbing Process

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2009
The face hobbing process has been widely applied in automotive industry. But so far few analytical tools have been developed. This makes it difficult for us to optimize gear design.

New supercurrent pattern in quantum point contact with strained graphene nanoribbon

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
We theoretically reveal the unusual features of the Josephson effect in a strained zigzag graphene nanoribbon with a small length relative to the superconducting coherence length and an arbitrary width.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Emergent spatial correlations in stochastically evolving populations

open access: yes, 1996
We study the spatial pattern formation and emerging long range correlations in a model of three species coevolving in space and time according to stochastic contact rules.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
