THREE-DIMENSIONAL CONTACT PROBLEM FOR A TRANSVERSELY ISOTROPIC SOLID
The spatial contact problem with an unknown contact domain is investigated for a transversely isotropic elastic half-space the boundary of which is perpendicular to the planes of isotropy.

Wetting of Flat Gradient Surfaces
Gradient, chemically modified, flat surfaces enable directed transport of droplets. Calculation of apparent contact angles inherent for gradient surfaces is challenging even for atomically flat ones.

On the dynamic contact problem with two deformable stamps [PDF]
The problem of the time-harmonic behavior of two deformable semi-infinite stamps lying on a deformable base is considered. It is assumed that the stamps converge with parallel ends in such a way that they form a crack, defect, or tectonic fault in the ...

Asymptotic Approach to Solving the Contact Problem for a Rolling Body with a Thin Deformable Rim
On the basis of an asymptotic approach to solving the elasticity theory boundary value problem for a thin strip rigidly linked to a non-deformable base, the differential equations are derived for determining the normal and shear loads distributed on the ...

Solution of Contact Problem for Supporting Node of Beam Hinged Plate
The paper considers a solution of contact problem for hinged supporting node of beam floor slab (coating). The main goal is to determine a stress state of the area where a plate rests on the wall.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.
