Contact and Systemic Contact-type Dermatitis to Spices
Dermatologic Clinics, 1990Contact and systemic contact-type dermatitis reactions to spices such as nutmeg, mace, cardamom, curry, cinnamon, and laurel may be rare but may well be overlooked. In our experience, patch testing with these spices "as is" is very useful; if there is a positive reaction, testing with dilutions is helpful.

The sense of touch and the capability to analyze potential contacts is important to many interactions of robots, such as planning exploration, handling objects, or avoiding collisions based on sensing of the environment. It is a pleasant surprise that the mathematics of touching and contact can be developed along the same algebraic lines as that of ...

AbstractSystemic contact dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease that may occur in persons with contact allergy when they are exposed to the hapten orally, transcutaneously, per rectum, intravesically, intravenously, or by inhalation. The most common causes of systemic contact dermatitis are drugs used both topically and systemically.

Systemic Contact Dermatitis to Hydroxyzine
Dermatitis, 1997Systemic contact dermatitis is an underreported type of delayed hypersensitivity caused by a systemically administered substance. When interpreting patch test reactions, it is important to obtain a history of all current related oral medications. Many oral medications can cross-react with structurally similar topical antigens and induce systemic ...

Systemic contact dermatitis to corticosteroids
Allergy, 2012AbstractBackgroundAlthough unexpected and paradoxical, allergic hypersensitivity to corticosteroids is a common finding, delayed‐type reactions being much more frequently encountered than the immediate‐type ones. Although the skin is the main sensitization and elicitation route, other routes, amongst them systemic administration of corticosteroids may ...

Contact dermatitis as a systemic disease
Clinics in Dermatology, 2014Systemic contact dermatitis (SCD) is a condition occurring in previously sensitized individuals after systemic re-exposure to the same or cross-reacting substance. Systemic route of administration means uptake of an allergen via percutaneous, transmucosal, oral, intravenous, intramuscular, and inhalational routes, as well as through implants.

Systemic Contact Dermatitis: A review
Dermatologic Clinics, 2020Systemic contact dermatitis (SCD) is a broad category of syndromes characterized by a variety of clinical presentations and offending agents. There exists general consensus that SCD and its subcategories are due to type IV (and less commonly type III) hypersensitivity reactions, in which a previously sensitized individual undergoes a cytotoxic CD8+ T ...

Acrylate Systemic Contact Dermatitis
Dermatitis®, 2015Acrylates, the 2012 American Contact Dermatitis Society allergen of the year, are found in a range of products including the absorbent materials within feminine hygiene pads. When fully polymerized, acrylates are nonimmunogenic; however, if not completely cured, the monomers can be potent allergens.
