Research on the design principle of the contact terminal in large DC current loop of ±800 kV, 10,000 MW UHVDC converter station

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
The abnormal heating phenomena of contact terminal in large DC current loop of the ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) converter station became one of the most serious problems, which caused serious impact on the operation reliability of the power ...

Dynamically Self-Validating Contact Temperature Sensors

open access: yes, 2020
. Thermocouple and RTD technology is the workhorse of the temperature measurement industry. It has been refined and extended to cover a broad range of temperature measurement needs. However, it is well documented, though not widely advertised, that these

Non-contact friction studied with pendulum AFM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Understanding nanoscale friction and dissipation is central to nanotechnology. The recent detection of the electronic friction drop caused by the onset of superconductivity in Nb by means of an ultrasensitive non-contact pendulum atomic force microscope (

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

A 17 Year Old With Developmental Delay Presenting With Increasing Confusion and Imbalance

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methylmalonic acidemia is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by defects in methylmalonyl‐CoA mutase and cobalamin (vitamin B12) metabolism. These defects disrupt the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, leading to the abnormal accumulation of metabolic products such as methylmalonic acid, propionic acid,

Heat transfer characteristics of a two-phase, air-water direct contact evaporator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The purpose of the research was to carry out an experimental and theoretical investigation of the heat transfer on a direct contact column for desalination purposes. The effect of air and water mass flow rates and air inlet temperature on the temperature

Study of Contact Temperature in Polishing Surfaces

open access: yes, 2011
Based on a three-body micro-contact mechanism and contact temperature theory, a micro-contact temperature model was developed to investigate the effect of particle size, particle density, and rotational speed on temperature rise between particles and ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
