Microbial communities of continuously cropped, irrigated rice fields [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1997
In continuously cropped, irrigated rice fields, soil microbial biomass as measured by total phospholipid fatty acid concentrations declined during the second half of the crop cycle. This decline was also observed in other components of the microbial community assessed by viable counts, including denitrifiers and sporeformers.

Effect of potassium fulvate on continuous tobacco cropping soils and crop growth

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Long-term continuous cropping of tobacco causes dysbiosis of soil microbial communities, the imbalance of soil nutrients, and the increase of pathogenic bacteria, which will slow the growth and development of tobacco plants, reduce the production quality, and cause significant losses to tobacco production and tobacco farmers.
