Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Some basic theorems on difference-differential equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2008
In this paper some basic theorems on the existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence of solutions of a certain difference-differential equation are established.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Qualitative Analysis of a Class of Fractional Functional Differential Systems with Feedback Control

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
In this paper, we investigate a class of fractional functional differential systems with feedback control, in which the fractional derivatives are interpreted in the Caputo sense.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Solutions to boundary-value problems for nonlinear differential equations of fractional order

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
we discuss the existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence of solutions for a boundary value problem of nonlinear fractional differential equation.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Continuous dependence of solutions of elliptic BVPs on parameters [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2006
The continuous dependence of solutions for a certain class of elliptic PDE on functional parameters is studied in this paper. The main result is as follow: the sequence \(\{x_k\}_{k\in N}\) of solutions of the Dirichlet problem discussed here ...

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Critical Exponents in Percolation Model of Track Region Critical Exponents in Percolation Model of Track Region Critical Exponents in Percolation Model of Track Region [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2012
Differences between critical exponents of this model and the continuous percolation model indicate that the dependence of the modified structure area on the dose and the angle related with the correlation between individual tracks.
