Constrained envelope continuous phase modulation

The 57th IEEE Semiannual Vehicular Technology Conference, 2003. VTC 2003-Spring., 2004
We develop a coded modulation system with continuous phase and a small controlled envelope variation. We call the system constrained envelope continuous phase modulation (ceCPM) and show that, there is a gain for ceCPM over CPM under the same spectrum constraint. With normalized amplitude varying in the interval {1/spl plusmn/0.2} the gain for ceCPM is

Generalized nonlinear continuous phase modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1995
A class of generalized nonlinear full-response CPM signals is constructed by extending the known ordinary nonlinear CPM signals. Numerical results presented at different numbers of states indicate that generalized nonlinear CPM signals achieve higher minimum Euclidean distances than ordinary nonlinear CPM signals. >

Turbo coded continuous phase modulation

2001 MILCOM Proceedings Communications for Network-Centric Operations: Creating the Information Force (Cat. No.01CH37277), 2002
Continuous phase modulation (CPM) provides an attractive option for spectrally efficient communications systems. Turbo-coding combined with CPM has the potential to result in a spectrally efficient scheme that is also energy efficient in that it yields low error rates at low signal-to-noise ratios. In this paper we consider the concatenation of a turbo

Multi-pulse continuous phase modulation

The 5th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications, 2003
A generalization of multi-level continuous phase modulation (CPM) called multi-pulse CPM (mpCPM) is proposed. We show how to find the minimum Euclidean distance and how to calculate the power spectral density. We compare the performance with standard CPM by numerically searching for phase pulses that maximizes the minimum Euclidean distance under a ...

Noncoherent coded continuous phase modulation

ICC 2001. IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Record (Cat. No.01CH37240), 2002
Continuous phase modulation (CPM) systems for noncoherent coded transmission are proposed and analyzed. Specifically, the application of a feedback-free modulator is regarded. For demodulation, a receiver structure which requires only two or three linear filters is considered.

Irregular repeat continuous phase modulation

IEEE Communications Letters, 2005
We propose combining irregular repeat accumulate (IRA) codes with continuous phase modulation (CPM) and call this irregular repeat CPM (IRCPM). In this scheme, CPM is used as the accumulator of IRA codes to explore its built-in phase accumulate property. A property of the degree-1 check node (doping node) ratio is investigated.

Phase smoothing functions for continuous phase modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1994
In this paper, the problem of signal design for continuous phase modulation is examined. Using the performance measures of effective bandwidth and minimum distance, "optimal" signal shapes are calculated for various receiver observation intervals for full and partial response signalling.

Linearized continuous phase modulation

Conference Proceeding IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing, 2003
Linearized continuous phase modulation (LCPM) is introduced and compared to trellis-coded modulation (TCM). It is shown that a potential power gain exists in favor of LCPM over TCM at bandwidth efficiencies larger than 3 bps/Hz. Moreover, it is shown that LCPM can be generated using a single in-phase branch serially connected to a linear filter and ...

Spectrally Efficient Multiuser Continuous-Phase Modulation Systems

2010 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2010
In this paper we improve the spectral efficiency of continuous-phase modulations (CPM) when used in frequency-division multiplexing (FDM) systems with tight carrier frequency spacing. We show that significant improvements can be achieved applying a low-complexity iterative inter- channel interference (ICI) cancellation algorithm.

Multiple Phase Synchronization in Continuous Phase Modulation

Digital Signal Processing, 1993
Abstract This paper illustrates decoding algorithms wherein carrier phase recovery is accomplished by means of an array of synchronizers, instead of a single synchronizer as happens in conventional schemes. Algorithms with multiple synchronization are compared with others (traditional and untraditional) in terms of implementation complexity and error
