Canopy Structure Exhibits Linear and Nonlinear Links to Biome‐Level Maximum Light Use Efficiency

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 28, Issue 6, June 2025.
Maximum light use efficiency represents biomes' capacity to convert light to carbon during photosynthesis. By analysing 320 eddy covariance sites and satellite observations, we reveal that εbiome increases asymptotically with canopy density (NIRv, LAI) while decreasing with architectural NIR scattering efficiency (NIRvN).
