Delayed contrast enhancement in MRI in takotsubo cardiomyopathy [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2011
We present a 21-year-old female whose clinical presentation and investigations were suggestive of takotsubo cardiomyopathy. On cardiac MRI, there was delayed gadolinium enhancement in apical and mid-segments with sparing of the base. Patient is in class III symptoms with ejection fraction of 24% at 1 year follow-up.

Quantitative multiparametric MRI predicts response to neoadjuvant therapy in the community setting

open access: yesBreast Cancer Research, 2021
Background The purpose of this study was to determine whether advanced quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be deployed outside of large, research-oriented academic hospitals and into community care settings to predict eventual pathological ...

Contrast-enhanced CT- and MRI-based perfusion assessment for pulmonary diseases: basics and clinical applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Assessment of regional pulmonary perfusion as well as nodule and tumor perfusions in various pulmonary diseases are currently performed by means of nuclear medicine studies requiring radioactive macroaggregates, dual-energy computed tomography (CT), and ...

Quantifying spatial heterogeneity in dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI parameter maps

open access: yes, 2009
Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI is becoming a standard tool for imaging-based trials of anti-vascular/angiogenic agents in cancer. So far, however, biomarkers derived from DCE-MRI parameter maps have largely neglected the fact that the maps have spatial ...

Significance of diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) as an improving factor in contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enterography in evaluation of patients with Crohn’s disease [PDF]

open access: yesMedicinski Glasnik, 2019
Aim To determine capabilities and potential of contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enterography in order to establish the diagnosis and to evaluate severity and activity of intestinal inflammation.

Alignment of contrast enhanced medical images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The re-alignment of series of medical images in which there are multiple contrast variations is difficult. The reason for this is that the popularmeasures of image similarity used to drive the alignment procedure do not separate the influence of ...

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...
