EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

A novel bimodal lipidic contrast agent for cellular labelling and tumour MRI

open access: yes, 2010
We have synthesized a bimodal lipidic molecule bearing both fluorophore and contrast agent signatures on the same structure in order to create a robust bimodal liposome for both magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and fluorescence microscopy utility.

Analysis of DCE-MRI Data using a Nonnegative Elastic Net [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present a nonnegative Elastic Net approach for the analysis of Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging data. A multi-compartment approach is considered, which is translated into a (restricted) least square model selection problem.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Bimodal MRI/Fluorescence Nanoparticle Imaging Contrast Agent Targeting Prostate Cancer

open access: yesNanomaterials
We developed a novel site-specific bimodal MRI/fluorescence nanoparticle contrast agent targeting gastrin-releasing peptide receptors (GRPrs), which are overexpressed in aggressive prostate cancers. Biocompatible ultra-small superparamagnetic iron oxide (

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agent-Related Toxicities

open access: yes, 2018
In recent years, gadolinium-based contrast agents have been associated with different types of toxicity. In particular, nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, a progressive sclerotic-myxedematous systemic disease of unknown etiology, is related to gadolinium ...

Ultrasound Contrast Agent Microbubble Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ultrasound contrast agents are traditionally used in ultrasound-assisted organ perfusion imaging. Recently the use of coated microbubbles has been proposed for molecular imaging applications where the bubbles are covered with a layer of targeting ligands

Perflutren lipid microspheres for echocardiogram contrast: a clinical case of anaphylaxis not caused by PEG

open access: yesAllergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology
Background Perflutren lipid microsphere suspension, sold under the brand name Definity®, is a microbubble ultrasound contrast agent. The microspheres contain octafluoropropane (C3F8) gas encapsulated by an outer lipid shell of phospholipids and a ...
