Contrast Enhancement of the Pancreas in Computed Tomography
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1979Contrast enhancement of pancreas, liver, kidney, muscle, and blood was measured from computed tomography scans of 46 patients, including patients with normal pancreas (20), pancreatitis (20), and pancreatic carcinoma (6). A bolus injection of contrast agent was given intravenously.

Computed tomography (CT) can rapidly provide high-resolution cross-section images for clinical diagnosis. The image contrast of the CT strongly influences the visibility of lesions in the images. However, the low material-dependent characteristic of the Compton scattering (CS) lowers the image contrast.

Pituitary computed tomography: Is contrast enhancement necessary?
Clinical Radiology, 1990Direct coronal computed tomography of the pituitary fossa, before and after enhancement with intravenous contrast medium, was performed on 25 consecutive patients with hyperprolactinaemia. The images were viewed separately by two independent observers and the pituitary height, width and contour, and the visibility of the infundibulum, optic chiasm and ...

Extravascular iodine in contrast enhancement with computed tomography
Neuroradiology, 1978Using specimens obtained at operation, tissue-blood ratios of iodinated contrast material (iodine), and in some cases also those of red blood cell tracer (51Cr), were measured in 23 patients with various kinds of intracranial mass lesions. Results provided confirmatory evidence on the major role played by extravascular iodine in the positive ...

Xenon Contrast Enhancement in Computed Body Tomography
Radiology, 1978Xenon has been investigated as a contrast medium for conventional radiography, and in vitro as a contrast medium for computed tomography. The authors evaluated xenon contrast enhancement in vivo for CT body scanning. Nine healthy subjects had CT scans before and during xenon inhalation. Concentrations of xenon used varied from 10--50%.

Contrast Enhancement of Cranial Lesions in Computed Tomography
Acta Radiologica. Diagnosis, 1978The time course of enhancement in apparently normal brain tissue, edema and focal lesions during 30 to 60 min after intravenous injection of vascular contrast medium was evaluated in a series of 41 patients with different intracranial lesions. The attenuation of apparently normal unenhanced brain tissue varied with the level of the scan, mainly an ...

Quantification of Aortic Valve Calcification in Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography
Background: The goal of our study is to evaluate a method to quantify aortic valve calcification (AVC) in contrast-enhanced computed tomography for patients with suspected severe aortic stenosis pre-interventionally.
