Contrast Enhancement of Cerebral Infarcts in Computed Tomography
Radiology, 1976Approximately 60% of cerebral infarcts between 1 and 4 weeks old may be enhanced by contrast material. A recent infarct can be missed if contrast material is not used; however, recent infarcts can also be partially obscured by the contrast medium, so that a precontrast scan is necessary.

An Approach to Contrast Enhancement in Computed Tomography of the Brain
Radiology, 1975A total of 450 brain examinations were performed using computed tomography before and after intravenous infusion of methylglucamine diatrizoate 30%. In 110 cases involving a documented intracranial lesion, the scans were analyzed to determine the degree and usefulness of contrast enhancement. Enhancement was achieved in a wide variety of neoplastic and

Comparison of Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound With Contrast Enhanced Computed Tomography for the Diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma [PDF]
The most common primary malignant tumor of liver is hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The highest risk of developing HCC is seen in patients of cirrhosis. Ultrasound is used for surveillance in these patients. This study evaluates the role of contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in the diagnosis of HCC and compares CEUS to contrast enhanced computed ...

Contrast Enhancement in Computed Tomography
1980The development of computed tomography made available a radio diagnostic tool of extremely high sensitivity for the detection of relatively-low differences in tissue density. Users of CT observed early in its history that an intravenous infusion of iodinated contrast material could be of great assistance in the diagnosis and characterization of ...

Hypovolemic Shock and Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography of the Pancreas
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1986The effect of profound hemorrhagic hypovolemia on cardiac output and pancreatic blood flow was studied in pigs with the thermodilution method and microsphere technique. Approximately 30-40% of the circulating blood volume was withdrawn slowly during 5 h. Cardiac output and pancreatic blood flow decreased by 35% and 32%, respectively.

Contrast enhancement of cerebellar infarction on computed tomography
Surgical Neurology, 1985The author analyzed the appearance on computed tomography after infusion of contrast medium of cerebellar infarction in three patients, whose diagnosis was made on the basis of clinical presentation, cerebral angiography, and sequential computed tomographic scans.

A Protocol for the Use of Contrast Enhancement in Cranial Computed Tomography
Radiology, 1978There is some confusion regarding the indications for and methodology of the use of contrast material in cranial computed tomography. Some authors recommend a nonenhanced scan in all cases, followed by an enhanced scan if indicated by the symptoms or the appearance of the unenhanced scan.

Contrast Enhancement in Hepatic Computed Tomography
1996Although it is generally agreed that intravenous administration of contrast media is necessary for imaging hepatic lesions and that bolus infusion is preferable to drip infusion, a consensus is lacking about the optimal injection protocol. Issues that remain unresolved during hepatic contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) include the total volume ...

Contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the normal and abnormal gallbladder
The British Journal of Radiology, 1986One hundred and fourteen upper abdominal computed tomography examinations performed before and after intravenous contrast were reviewed. In 48 patients who had no evidence of biliary or pancreatic disease, the mean gallbladder wall attenuation before contrast was 25 +/- 13 HU and after contrast 42 +/- 18 HU, with a wall thickness of 1.9 +/- 0.43 mm. Intravenous contrast enhancement in computed tomography of pelvic malignancies
RöFo - Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der Röntgenstrahlen und der bildgebenden Verfahren, 1981The value of intravenous contract enhancement in computed tomography (CT) of pelvic malignancies was analyzed in 124 cases. Contrast enhancement of pelvic organs depends on the smooth muscle component and the administered iodine dose. Contrary to parenchymal organs in the abdomen the iodine washout from smooth muscle organs is slow.
