Equivariants of Mechanical Control Systems

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2013
In this paper we find a complete set of equivariants of mechanical control systems that satisfy the geodesic accessibility property. These equivariants are structure functions on the configuration manifold and are used to completely characterize the mechanical state equivalence of two mechanical control systems.

Mechanical Control Systems

2021
Let ϕ and A be the scalar potential and the vector potential of the electric field E and of the magnetic flux density B, respectively; E = −∇ϕ, B = ∇×A.

Configuration Controllability of Mechanical Systems Underactuated by One Control

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2003
The paper contains a detailed study of local configuration controllability for mechanical control systems within the affine (or linear) connection formalism. An extension of some previous results of \textit{A. W. Lewis} [Rep. Math. Phys. 42, No. 1--2, 135--164 (1998; Zbl 0976.53015)] for single-input case yields an useful characterization of local ...

Controlling the Amplitude of Oscillations of Mechanical Systems

Journal of Computer and Systems Sciences International, 2022
This article proposes a method for searching for the optimal control of oscillation amplitude in a scleronomic multidimensional mechanical system. The systems considered contain one degree of freedom that is not directly controllable, but indirectly influenced by the other controls.

Averaging and Vibrational Control of Mechanical Systems

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2002
The author of this paper provides a systematic study of high amplitude, high frequency averaging for mechanical systems. The basis of his approach is a careful analysis of the Lie algebraic structure of mechanical systems. This structure enables closed-form expressions for the averaging analysis.

Constructive control of quantum-mechanical systems

Proceedings of the 40th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.01CH37228), 2002
In this paper we develop a method for exact constructive controllability of quantum mechanical systems. The method has three steps, first a path from the initial state to the final state is determined and intermediate points chosen such that any two consecutive points are close, next small sinusoidal control signals are used to drive the system between

Control of Mechanical Systems

1999
In this chapter we study applied problems of nonlinear control and pre-specified spatial motion of multi-body mechanical systems, described by using the Newton, Euler and Lagrange equations. The presentation begins with investigation of a problem of a rigid body motion that requires to maintain a given trajectory of the center-point (a mass-point ...

Decentralized Adaptive Control of Mechanical Systems

Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, 1995
ABSTRACTThis article presents two new adaptive schemes for the motion control of an important class of mechanical systems. The first controller possesses a decentralized structure, in which the control input for each configuration degree-of-freedom (DOF) is computed based on information concerning only that DOF, and is implementable with mechanical ...
