The FastICA Algorithm Revisited: Convergence Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 2006
The fast independent component analysis (FastICA) algorithm is one of the most popular methods to solve problems in ICA and blind source separation. It has been shown experimentally that it outperforms most of the commonly used ICA algorithms in convergence speed.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Comparison of the Pelvic Rotation Angle During Hip Lateral Rotation in the Standing and Prone Positions in Participants With and Without Tensor Fasciae Latae/Iliotibial Tract Tightness

open access: yesPhysical Therapy Korea
Background: Tensor fasciae latae (TFL) and iliotibial tract (ITB) tightness can pull the pelvis during hip lateral rotation (HLR), increasing pelvic rotation due to muscle tension.

A study on the monitoring of technology innovation through patent analysis

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications
These days, innovation cycles are becoming shorter, and market competition has grown increasingly intense. Therefore, it is essential for companies to adopt strategic R&D approaches to remain competitive.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Dissemination of pathogenic bacteria is reinforced by a MARTX toxin effector duet

open access: yesNature Communications
Multiple bacterial genera take advantage of the multifunctional autoprocessing repeats-in-toxin (MARTX) toxin to invade host cells. Secretion of the MARTX toxin by Vibrio vulnificus, a deadly opportunistic pathogen that causes primary septicemia, the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Error analysis of QR algorithms for computing Lyapunov exponents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Lyapunov exponents give valuable information about long term dynamics. The discrete and continuous QR algorithms are widely used numerical techniques for computing approximate Lyapunov exponents, although they are not yet supported by a general error ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.
