Agricultural productivity in the United States: catching-up and the business cycle [PDF]
This paper examines the relation between the business cycle and convergence in levels of total factor productivity (TFP) across states. First, we find evidence of convergence in TFP levels across the different phases of the business cycle, but the speed ...

Ball convergence for Traub-Steffensen like methods in Banach space
We present a local convergence analysis for two Traub-Steffensen-like methods in order to approximate a locally unique solution of an equation in a Banach space setting. In earlier studies such as [16, 23] Taylor expansions and hypotheses up to the third

On the Global Convergence of Continuous-Time Stochastic Heavy-Ball Method for Nonconvex Optimization
We study the convergence behavior of a stochastic heavy-ball method with a small stepsize. Under a change of time scale, we approximate the discrete scheme by a stochastic differential equation that models small random perturbations of a coupled system ...

Numerical Modeling of Photothermal Self‐Excited Composite Oscillators
We present a numerical framework for simulating photothermal self‐excited oscillations. The driving mechanism is elucidated by highlighting the roles of inertia and overshoot, as well as the phase lag between the thermal moment and the oscillation angle, which together construct the feedback loop between the system state and the environmental stimulus.

Non-Linear Catching-up and Long-Run Convergence in the Agricultural Productivity of US States [PDF]
This note investigates convergence of agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) for 48 contiguous states in the US. This is carried out using a recently developed methodology which allows for a clear delineation between catching-up and long-run ...

Hybrid Continuum Robot Designs and Architectures for Healthcare Applications
Hybrid continuum robots represent an emerging class of flexible manipulators that blend materials, structures, and actuation concepts from the established fields of soft and continuum robotics. This review introduces an accessible framework to distinguish key hybridization approaches, surveys current designs aimed at complex clinical applications, and ...

Stochastic Approximation, Momentum, and Nash Play [PDF]
Main objects here are normal-form games, featuring uncertainty and noncooperative players who entertain local visions, form local approximations, and hesitate in making large, swift adjustments.
