The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Hybrid and modular multilevel converter designs for isolated HVDC–DC converters [PDF]
Efficient medium and high-voltage dc-dc conversion is critical for future dc grids. This paper proposes a hybrid multilevel dc-ac converter structure that is used as the kernel of dc-dc conversion systems.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

AC vs. DC Boost Converters: A Detailed Conduction Loss Comparison [PDF]
Studies have shown the efficiency benefits of DC dis- tribution systems are largely due to the superior performance of DC/DC converters. Nonetheless, these studies are often based on product data that differs widely in manufacturer and operating voltage.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Efficiency Improvement of Fault-Tolerant Three-Level Power Converters [PDF]
Fault-tolerant power converters play a critical role in the transportation electrification. However, fault-tolerant operation, high efficiency, and low cost usually result in design criteria that have conflicting constraints and goals.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Distribution characteristic and formation process of bubbles in foaming slag in a converter
Foaming slags at the top at the beginning of deslaggging, in the lower portion at the end of deslagging, and at the bottom after deslagging were taken with a sample scoop at the end of dephosphorization in the converter slag-remaining and double-slag ...

Comparator Design in Sensors for Environmental Monitoring [PDF]
This paper presents circuit design considerations of comparator in analog-to-digital converters (ADC) applied for a portable, low-cost and high performance nano-sensor chip which can be applied to detect the airborne magnetite pollution nano particulate ...

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
