Effect of oil film behavior on roller surface on cooling in traction drives

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2020
This paper describes the relationship between the oil film behavior and cooling effect of traction drive roller experimentally. Traction drives are transmission systems where the power is transmitted by shear stress of lubrication oil on the contact ...

The cooling-off effect of price limits in the Chinese stock markets

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we investigate the cooling-off effect (opposite to the magnet effect) from two aspects. Firstly, from the viewpoint of dynamics, we study the existence of the cooling-off effect by following the dynamical evolution of some financial ...

Hot carrier and hot phonon coupling during ultrafast relaxation of photoexcited electrons in graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We study, by means of a Monte Carlo simulator, the hot phonon effect on the relaxation dynamics in photoexcited graphene and its quantitative impact as compared to considering an equilibrium phonon distribution. Our multi-particle approach indicates that

Influence of a railway station and the Yangtze River on the local urban thermal environment of a subtropical city

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering, 2022
Urbanization causes various climate-related environmental problems, such as the urban heat island phenomenon and extreme weather. As such, the outdoor thermal environment is worsening in cities, and researchers are increasingly concerned with mitigation ...

Scalp cooling with adjuvant/neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer and the risk of scalp metastases: systematic review and meta-analysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
PurposeThe risk of scalp metastases in patients using scalp cooling for preservation of hair during chemotherapy has been a concern but is poorly described.MethodsA systematic review and meta-analysis of longitudinal studies was undertaken to evaluate ...

Cooling effect evaluation of assembled convection-radiation refrigeration system under deep mine

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Artificial cooling technology is one of the most effective methods for deep well heat damage management. The current cooling method is dominated by all-air cooling, which reveals many problems such as cooling effect of “near-cold and far-hot”, huge ...

A possible cooling effect in high temperature superconductors

open access: yes, 2002
We show that an adiabatic increase of the supercurrent along a superconductor with lines of nodes of the order parameter on the Fermi surface can result in a cooling effect.

Buoyant Bubbles in a Cooling Intracluster Medium I. Hydrodynamic Bubbles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Over the past several years, numerous examples of X-ray cavities coincident with radio sources have been observed in so-called "cool core" clusters of galaxies.

Modeling green roofs’ cooling effect in high-density urban areas based on law of diminishing marginal utility of the cooling efficiency: A case study of Xiamen Island, China

open access: yes, 2021
There is in general good awareness of the potential role of green roofs to regulate urban thermal environments, but a lack of effective spatial modeling of this cooling effect for a given roof greening scheme at the city scale.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
