An XGBoost–SHAP Explainable Machine Learning Approach Linking Urban Park Cooling Effects in a Megacity Core to Landscape Features Inside and Outside the Parks

open access: yesLand
Urban parks, as essential components of green infrastructure, play a critical role in mitigating the urban heat island effect and improving thermal comfort.

How does the ambient environment respond to the industrial heat island effects? An innovative and comprehensive methodological paradigm for quantifying the varied cooling effects of different landscapes

open access: yesGIScience & Remote Sensing, 2022
Local landscape patterns in cities can substantially alter surrounding land surface temperature (LST) and affect the surface urban heat island effect.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Effect of landscaping and greening on microclimate in Hangzhou city

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2001
The effects of greening on temperature and relative humidity are studied. Results show that air temperature is reduced by 0.7℃ on average, 2.3℃ at maximum, and relative humidity increased by 4%on average, 15% at maximum after landscaping and greening in ...

Loss of AMBRA1 activates MAPK and angiogenesis signaling pathways in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Loss of AMBRA1 in melanoma cells activates multiple oncogenic pathways associated with tumor progression. Transcriptomic and protein network analyses revealed that AMBRA1 depletion enhances MAPK/ERK signaling, angiogenesis, TGF‐β/EMT signaling, and Wnt/axon guidance pathways.

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Factors Influencing Spatiotemporal Changes in the Urban Blue-Green Space Cooling Effect in Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Based on Multi-Source Remote Sensing Data

open access: yesLand
Owing to rapid urbanization, the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region in China faces considerable urban heat island (UHI) effects, which can be mitigated by blue-green space construction. In this study, we used multi-source remote sensing products and the InVEST

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...
