An optimization study of a multiple-row pin-vented brake disc to promote brake cooling using computational fluid dynamics [PDF]
Brake disc cooling is an important area of research for high-performance brake disc manufacturers, users as well as academia. In high-demand braking applications, vented discs are increasingly being used as these are considered to have high heat ...

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

The London Urban Heat Island – upwind vegetation effects on local temperatures [PDF]
Vegetation has the potential to cool the air in contact with it through evaporation of surface and transpirated water. This effect may have significant benefits in reducing the need for mechanical cooling of a building or increase comfort in outdoor ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Evaluate the Cooling Effect of Cooling Garments: A Review
Personal cooling garments have the advantages of being highly effective and economically practical, and are widely used in industry, medicine and aerospace. Personal cooling garments exhibit different cooling efficiencies and thermal comfort in different environments due to their different cooling medium characteristics. Air-cooling garments and liquid-

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
