Effect of an Upstream Unconnected Bulge on Film Cooling

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
Film cooling technology is commonly used in a cooling system of gas turbines. For different upstream bulge configurations, the unconnected and connected configurations were used to investigate the film cooling effectiveness and downstream dimensionless ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Dynamic wetting and heat transfer during droplet impact on heated bi-phobic wettability-patterned surfaces

open access: yes, 2020
This paper reports the dynamic wetting behavior and heat transfer characteristics for impinging droplets on heated bi-phobic surfaces (superhydrophobic matrix with hydrophobic spots).

Effects of LoD and PoD in combined-hole film cooling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Film cooling technique was used to provide thermal protection for turbine components from the hot combustion gases. Combined-hole film cooling system was introduced as a way to improve the film cooling performances.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Unparticle effects in supernovae cooling

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2007
Recently H. Georgi suggested that a scale invariant unparticle ${\mathcal{U}}$ sector with an infrared fixed point at high energy can couple with the SM matter via a higher-dimensional operator suppressed by a high cut-off scale. Intense phenomenological search of this unparticle sector in the collider and flavour physics context has already been made.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
