Experimental study effect of diameter and number of spray nozzle holes on counterflow cooling tower to improve cooling effectiveness

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The cooling system is an essential part of the production process within the plant. In the cooling system using cooling tower, efficiency can be improved by increasing the effectiveness of cooling through nozzle modification. This study aims to determine

Continuous quantum error correction by cooling

open access: yes, 2005
We describe an implementation of quantum error correction that operates continuously in time and requires no active interventions such as measurements or gates. The mechanism for carrying away the entropy introduced by errors is a cooling procedure.

District Power-To-Heat/Cool Complemented by Sewage Heat Recovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
District heating and cooling (DHC), when combined with waste or renewable energy sources, is an environmentally sound alternative to individual heating and cooling systems in buildings.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Numerical Investigation on Film Cooling Mechanism with Different Coolant Delivery Configurations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2021
Kidney vortex has significant impact on film cooling effectiveness, and different kinds of film cooling hole geometry and configuration are developed to weaken or eliminate kidney vortex.

Comparison of cooling effectiveness of turbine vanes with and without film cooling [PDF]

open access: yes
The cooling effectiveness of three film-cooled vanes were compared to the cooling effectiveness of two non-film-cooled vanes. The comparison indicated that, for the vane configurations and test conditions examined, film cooling had an adverse effect near

Analysis of Modern Numerical Approaches to Film Cooling Simulation on a Flat Surface: Trends, Errors and Correlation Dependencies

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering
An analysis of modern numerical methods for film cooling simulation on a flat surface, considering current CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) trends during 2019–2025, is presented in the paper. More than 25 recent studies devoted to 3D CFD simulations of

Influence of premixed swirl-stabilized flame on the cooling performance of an effusion-cooled combustor liner

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The impact of premixed swirl-stabilized flame on the cooling performance of an effusion-cooled combustor liner perforated by cylindrical and fan-shaped holes is investigated under varying blowing ratios.
