Transport through the secretory pathway begins with COPII regulation of ER export. Driven by the Sar1 GTPase cycle, cytosolic COPII proteins exchange on and off the membrane at specific sites on the ER to regulate cargo exit. Here recent developments in COPII research are discussed, particularly the use of live-cell imaging, which has revealed ...

COPII-mediated traffic in plants
Trends in Plant Science, 2010The secretory pathway encloses functionally interlinked organelles for the synthesis and deposition of most of the building blocks of eukaryotic cells, such as lipids, proteins and sugars. The coat protein complex II (COPII) is a specialized protein complex for the transport between secretory organelles, specifically from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)

p38 MAPK regulates COPII recruitment
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007Here, we investigate regulation of coat protein complex II (COPII) recruitment onto ER export sites in permeabilized cells. In cytosols from nocodazole treated HeLa cells we find COPII loading is inhibited. The stress kinase p38 MAPK is activated in these cytosols and COPII loading can be rescued by depletion of p38 MAPK alpha or by the p38 MAPK ...

Abstract Genes encoding COPII proteins were first identified inS. cerevisiae through a genetic screen for secretion defective cells and later found to be required for transport vesicle budding from the ER. Subsequent biochemical approaches allowed for the isolation of three protein fractions, Sec23p/Sec24p complex, Sec13p/Sec31p, and ...

Illuminating COPII coat dynamics
Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, 2005A FRET-based approach to monitor the assembly of membrane-associated COPII coat proteins provides new insights into how the COPII–cargo complex is maintained on the membrane during continuous rounds of Sar1p-GTP hydrolysis.

Abstract : The upper portion of core from approximately 75400B to 77777B is now used by the COPII (Control for Operational Programs) System for the directory and other tables. Some functions in the system either require all of core from 10000B to 77777B or are very close to requiring the area now used for the directory.
