High throughput powder diffraction: II Applications of clustering methods and multivariate data analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In high throughput crystallography is possible to accumulate over 1000 powder diffraction patterns on a series of related compounds, often polymorphs. We present a method that can analyse such data, automatically sort the patterns into related clusters ...

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Influence of surface micro-oxidation on the formability of pure copper powders by selective laser melting

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The absorption of laser energy by pure copper powders has a huge impact on the formation of high quality pure copper parts by selective laser melting.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Grain Growth-Controlled Giant Permittivity in Soft Chemistry CaCu3Ti4O12 Ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report a dielectric constant of up to 5.4105 at room temperature and 1 kHz for CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) ceramics, derived from multiphase powders (coprecipitation products), made by a ‘‘chimie douce’’ (coprecipitation) method, and then sintered in air ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Porous mandrels provide uniform deformation in hydrostatic powder metallurgy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Porous copper mandrels prevent uneven deformation of beryllium machining blanks. The beryllium powder is arranged around these mandrels and hot isostatically pressed to form the blanks.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Effect of Cu content on the microstructure and properties of sintered Fe-0.8C-xCu antifriction materials

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
Ferrous antifriction materials (FAMs) play a crucial role in powder metallurgy. Previous studies have primarily focused on exploring the antifriction properties of Fe-C-Cu materials with low copper content (0–5 wt%), while there have been fewer studies ...

Direct write of copper-graphene composite using micro-cold spray

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
Direct write of a new class of composite materials containing copper and graphene in the powder phase is described. The composite was synthesized using batch electroless plating of copper for various times onto Nano Graphene Platelets (NGP) to control ...
