Leveraging core enzyme structures for microbiota targeted functional regulation: Urease as an example

open access: yesiMeta
Microbial communities play critical roles in various ecosystems. Despite extensive research on the taxonomic and functional diversity of microbial communities, effective approaches to regulate targeted microbial functions remain limited. Here, we present

Changes in the Total Fecal Bacterial Population in Individual Horses Maintained on a Restricted Diet Over 6 Weeks

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Twelve mature (aged 5–16 years) horses and ponies of mixed breed and type were fed restricted (1.25% BM Dry matter) quantities of one of two fiber based diets formulated to be iso-caloric.

Weak Corings

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2001
Let \(A\) be an associative algebra with unit. The author introduces the concept of a weak \(A\)-coring, where the left and the right structure of module of the coring need not to be unital. The theory of weak corings is related with the weak entwined structures introduced by \textit{S. Caenepeel} and \textit{E. de Groot} [Contemp. Math.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Banded transformer cores [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A banded transformer core formed by positioning a pair of mated, similar core halves on a supporting pedestal. The core halves are encircled with a strap, selectively applying tension whereby a compressive force is applied to the core edge for reducing ...

The Harvest suite for rapid core-genome alignment and visualization of thousands of intraspecific microbial genomes

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2014
Whole-genome sequences are now available for many microbial species and clades, however existing whole-genome alignment methods are limited in their ability to perform sequence comparisons of multiple sequences simultaneously. Here we present the Harvest

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
