Programmable Anisotropic Terahertz Permittivity via High‐Aspect‐Ratio 3D‐Printed Dielectric Mesh Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed Terahertz (THz) anisotropic dielectric with programmable permittivity by varying infill density and creating high‐aspect‐ratio channels is presented. The proposed design was evaluated both experimentally, through THz time‐domain spectroscopy, and theoretically, through FDTD simulations and Effective Medium Theory analysis.

Nanomaterial‐Incorporated Nonlinear Optical Waveguides Explored With All‐Fiber Multiphoton Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Nonlinear waveguides are fabricated via an all‐fiber‐based multiphoton polymerization approach incorporating upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), which enable both multiphoton absorption at telecommunication wavelengths and nonlinear saturable absorption operation.

Seven‐Fold Compression of Mid‐Infrared Pulses Using a Series of Titanium Dioxide Plates

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Here, a sequence of three titanium dioxide plates is used to compress a mid‐infrared pulse from 103.9 femtoseconds to 14.1 femtoseconds (about two optical cycles) without the use of external dispersion compensation. The approach maintains high efficiency and produces pulses with a stable carrier‐envelope phase, providing a compact platform for ...

Information Transmission Strategies for Self‐Organized Robotic Aggregation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how information transmission influences the neighbor‐based self‐organized aggregation of swarm robots. We focus specifically on local interactions regarding information transfer and categorize previous studies based on the functions of the information exchanged.

Tapered liquid-core all-fibre devices for low-threshold Raman generation

open access: yes
Liquid-core fibres (LCF) which combine long interaction lengths and strong field confinement to enhance the nonlinear fluid-optic interactions are currently attracting much interest [1, 2].
