Optical Fiber Communication, 1979
A unique optical-fiber geometry has been developed that provides two low-loss optical channels within a single optical fiber. This concentric-core optical fiber is applicable to duplex or two-channel transmission in which extremely small fiber size and weight are required, for example, in aircraft, spacecraft, fiber-guided missiles, or other special ...

Polycarbonate hollow-core microstructured optical fiber
Optics Letters, 2008A hollow-core microstructured polymer optical fiber is fabricated from polycarbonate material and guidance by inhibited coupling in a two-layer structure is demonstrated in two strong transmission bands with minimum losses of 9.0 dB/m at 800 nm and 3.1 dB/m at 1550 nm.

Semiconductor-doped liquid-core optical fiber
Optics Letters, 2011A semiconductor liquid-core optical fiber has been made by simply filling the hollow core of a capillary waveguide with nanoparticles suspended in toluene media. Under a low continuous optical power excitation at 532 nm, the emission of PbSe particles was clearly demonstrated in the infrared region and then partially maintained in the core of the fiber

Hollow-core microstructured polymer optical fiber
Optics Letters, 2006We have fabricated microstructured polymer optical fibers that guide light in a hollow core using the photonic bandgap mechanism. The hollow core allows the use of polymer fibers to be extended to wavelength ranges where material absorption typically prohibits their use, with attenuation lower than the material loss observed in the infrared.

Optical fiber modulator derivates from hollow optical fiber with suspended core
Optics Letters, 2012A fiber optic integrated modulation-depth-tunable modulator based on a type of hollow optical fiber with suspended core is proposed and investigated. We synthesized magnetic fluid containing superparamagnetic Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles and encapsulated it in the hollow optical fiber as the cladding layer of the suspended core by fusing the hollow optical ...

Optical fiber filters using twin core fibers
Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference on Communications,, 1999New optical fiber filters are fabricated using a Mach Zehnder interferometric structure in a twin core fiber. It is possible to change the filtering characteristics by bending the twin core fiber.

Magnetic-fluid core optical fiber
Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, 2010We report the first fabrication of magnetic-fluid core optical fiber (MFCOF). Paraffin-based magnetic fluid is selected as the liquid and filled in a hollow core fiber with the core-diameter of 5 μm and the length of 20 cm. The optical properties of MFCOF were investigated by sending light into them.
