Computationally efficient approach to quantify 2D particle morphological descriptors [PDF]
The macro-scale behavior of granular materials is strongly influenced by grain kinematics. The mobility of the grains in turn is affected by grain morphology which needs to be comprehensively characterized.

Image corner detection method based on multi-scale discrete curvature
The traditional curvature calculation method is sensitive to local changes and noise in the discrete domain, which makes the corner detection accuracy and location deviate.

Smoothed Corners and Scattered Waves [PDF]
We introduce an arbitrary order, computationally efficient method to smooth corners on curves in the plane, as well as edges and vertices on surfaces in $\mathbb R^3$. The method is local, only modifying the original surface in a neighborhood of the geometric singularity, and preserves desirable features like convexity and symmetry.

Smoothing images creates corners [PDF]
The isophote curvature times the gradient magnitude to some power has been studied in the literature as a measure of cornerness in images. Stability in terms of sampling noise has been proposed by selecting corners at high scale and locating them at fine scale.

Real-Time Local Optimal Bézier Corner Smoothing for CNC Machine Tools
A straight line or G01 is the most common path in computer numerical control (CNC) contour machining. However, non-smooth corners introduce discontinuous movement along each axis during machining. The commonly used strategy is to redesign a corner into a

A Comparative Study on Contour-Based Corner Detectors [PDF]
Contour-based corner detectors directly or indirectly estimate a significance measure (e.g. curvature) on the points of a planar curve and select the curvature extrema points as corners.

Robust Corner Finding Based on Multi-Scale K-Cosine Angle Detection
Corner is widely utilized in computer vision and image processing. As a representative contour-based corner detection algorithm, RJ detector is first proposed to use the K-cosine to estimate curvature of digital curves for corner finding.

Anisotropic diffusion for noise removal of band pass signals [PDF]
A noise removal method for band pass signals based on anisotropic diffusion algorithm is proposed in this paper. This anisotropic smoothing algorithm is for band pass signals with a constant frequency and is an extension of the anisotropic diffusion ...

Performance Evaluation Criteria for Triangular Microchannels with Smoothed Corners
Abstract The manufacturing capabilities available today for microchannels make it possible to produce in a comparatively easy, quick and cheap way several cross-sections, possibly allowing modifications of the macro-geometry. Another way is smoothing the corners of polygona cross-sections: this eliminates low-gradient areas and increases

Corner detection of contour images using spectral clustering [PDF]
Corner detection plays an important role in object recognition and motion analysis. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical corner detection framework based on spectral clustering (SC).
