Vibratory Finishing of Stereolithography Parts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Rapid Prototype polymer resin models produced by Stereolithography have, by the nature of the process, a relatively poor surface roughness, particularly on concave and convex surfaces.

Optimised Electro-Osmotic Flow in Rectangular Microchannels with Smoothed Corners

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2023
Abstract Electro-osmotic flows are a means of circulating polar fluids through microchannels without resorting to mechanical pumping. The lack of moving parts, of noise and the ease of integration in silicon chips make them an interesting option for microchip cooling and miniaturized total analysis systems.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

On the use of Higher Order and Irregularly Shaped Boundary Elements in Nearfield Acoustical Holography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Nearfield acoustical holography (NAH) is used to find the regions of acoustic activity on the surface of a sound radiating object. One of the most general NAH approaches is the inverse frequency response function (IFRF) technique, since it imposes no ...

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Deep Image Sensing and Retrieval Using Suppression, Scale Spacing and Division, Interpolation and Spatial Color Coordinates With Bag of Words for Large and Complex Datasets

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Intelligent and efficient image retrieval from versatile image datasets is an inevitable requirement of the current era. Primitive image signatures are vital to reflect the visual attributes for content based image retrieval (CBIR).

On a selection principle for multivalued semiclassical flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the semiclassical behaviour of solutions of a Schr ̈odinger equation with a scalar po- tential displaying a conical singularity. When a pure state interacts strongly with the singularity of the flow, there are several possible classical ...
