Involvement of leucocytes and leukotrienes in ischaemic dysfunction of the coronary microcirculation
European Heart Journal, 1990Recent evidence suggests that leucocytes may exert an important influence on microvessel flow during pathophysiologic conditions. This is particularly true in the case of coronary occlusive disorders. Diminution of coronary perfusion pressure favours trapping of the large, stiff leucocytes in capillaries.

Endothelial Dysfunction: Impact on Epicardial Coronary Arteries and Microcirculation
Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 2000This article examines the relationship between endothelial dysfunction and "small vessel disease." Newer technologies have facilitated the study of this issue. Using a Doppler wire and the intracoronary administration of acetylcholine and papaverine, a difference can be made between functional and chronic-trophic disturbances of the coronary reserve ...

Background: Lack of sleep can lead to a variety of adverse cardiovascular events and even sudden death. In most cases, there is no obstructive coronary artery. Coronary microcirculation dysfunction (CMD) is thereby thought to play an important role in cardiovascular events caused by sleep loss. Pericytes regulate blood flow and

The association of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with normal coronary arteries was analyzed prospectively. A series of 128 consecutive patients underwent coronary angiography within 1 week from AMI. Seven patients, all females, had no coronary artery lesions and were considered eligible for the study.

Expert Review of Cardiovascular Therapy, 2018
Microvascular dysfunction in the setting of acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is an indicator of poor long-term prognosis. Prompt assessment and pharmacological or procedural therapy (prophylactic or post onset of dysfunction) may improve outcomes in STEMI post-primary percutaneous intervention.

Echocardiography, 2020
AbstractIntroductionCoronary vascular dysfunction, as assessed by coronary flow reserve (CFR) in the left anterior descending coronary artery, is found in various conditions including end‐stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). Currently, we investigated the associations of CFR with echocardiographic indices of systolic and diastolic cardiac function and ...

[Dysfunction of the coronary microcirculation in type 2 diabetic patients].
Archives des maladies du coeur et des vaisseaux, 2000A failure of coronary blood flow to increase during cold pressor test has been shown in patients with coronary atherosclerosis and impaired metabolic coronary vasodilatation in response to atrial pacing has been demonstrated in diabetic patients without significant epicardial artery stenoses.

[Establishment and evaluation on the animal models with coronary microcirculation dysfunction].
Zhongguo yi xue ke xue yuan xue bao. Acta Academiae Medicinae Sinicae, 2015Animal models of coronary microcirculation dysfunction are useful in research on the pathology of coronary microcirculation dysfunction and its intervention mechanisms. Currently, such animal modes are prepared mainly by mechanical obstruction and chemical damage form coronary microembolization or microthrombosis.

Obesity is related to left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction, although its pathophysiological mechanism remains unclear. Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is an ectopic fat with paracrine effects on coronary circulation and myocardium. We hypothesized that left ventricle-specific (periventricular) EAT may deteriorate diastolic function by impairing ...

[Recognition and treatment of coronary microcirculation dysfunction with TCM].
Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medicaCoronary microcirculation dysfunction refers to a pathological syndrome characterized by abnormal structural and/or functional changes of the vessels in the microcirculatory systems, including arterioles, venules, and capillaries, which further affect myocardial microperfusion.
