A Correlative Microscopy: A Combination of Light and Electron Microscopy
2010In recent years, fluorescence labelling allowed several advances in the clarification of structure and function in cells and tissues. Improved optical and laser equipments, fluorescence labelling methods, computer technologies and image analysis software made possible to study the location and dynamics of specifically labelled structures, from ...

Ultrastructural Correlation of Specular Microscopy in Retinoblastoma
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1986A patient with monocular retinoblastoma was examined with the wide-field specular microscope before undergoing enucleation. An unusual image on the corneal endothelium consisted of irregular oval dark structures within which bright reflections formed a lacy network.

Scanning acoustic Doppler microscopy and scanning acoustic correlation microscopy
Ultrasonics, 2002Acoustic microscopy with vector contrast at 100 MHz in a fluid with immersed particles is used to detect the flow profile in front of a microscopic orifice. The velocity profile concerning the component in axial direction of the focused beam is derived from the phase contrast.

Metallothioneins for Correlative Light and Electron Microscopy
2014Structural biologists have been working for decades on new strategies to identify proteins in cells unambiguously. We recently explored the possibilities of using the small metal-binding protein, metallothionein (MT), as a tag to detect proteins in transmission electron microscopy.

Correlative GFP-Immunoelectron Microscopy in Yeast
2010Correlative light and electron microscopy represents the ultimate goal for the visualization of cell biological processes. In theory, it is possible to combine the strengths of both methods, that is, the live-cell imaging of the movement of GFP-tagged proteins captured by fluorescence microscopy with an image of the fine structural context surrounding ...

Aperture correlation microscopy
2014Microscopy as applied to the biological sciences has benefited tremendously in the last 50 years from the invention of optically sectioning microscopes. Many techniques for microscopy developed recently offer super-resolved imaging, but often at the cost of light efficiency, signal, acquisition speed or significant amounts of money.

Correlative Light and Electron Microscopy of GFP
2012The correlation of light and electron microscopy (EM) is a powerful tool as it combines the investigation of dynamic processes in vivo with the resolution power of the electron microscope. The green fluorescent proteins (GFPs) and its derivatives revolutionized live-cell light microscopy.
