Is Cell Viability Always Directly Related to Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steels? [PDF]
It has been frequently reported that cell viability on stainless steels is improved by increasing their corrosion resistance. The question that arises is whether human cell viability is always directly related to corrosion resistance in these biostable ...

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Corrosion behavior of silver-coated conductive yarn
The corrosion mechanism and kinetics of the silver-coated conductive yarn (SCCY) used for wearable electronics were investigated under a NaCl solution, a main component of sweat. The corrosion occurs according to the mechanism in which silver reacts with chlorine ions to partly form sliver chloride on the surface of the SCCY and then the local silver ...

Chemical etching of a disordered solid: from experiments to field theory
We present a two-dimensional theoretical model for the slow chemical corrosion of a thin film of a disordered solid by suitable etching solutions. This model explain different experimental results showing that the corrosion stops spontaneously in a ...

Process‐Informed Analysis of As‐Built Metal Additive Surface Features
This article introduces a novel method for feature‐based surface texture characterisation directly incorporating manufacturing variables into the feature extraction workflow. This marks a major step towards identifying process‐specific surface properties and their influence on part function and hence a holistic understanding of process–structure ...
