Mergers and Business Model Assimilation: Evidence from Low-Cost Airlines Takeovers [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines mergers that lead to an almost immediate replacement of the target firm’s business model in favor of that of the acquiring firm. We examine the post-merger behavior of the two leading European dedicated low-cost airlines, EasyJet and ...

Capecitabine or Infusional 5-fluorouracil for Gastroesophageal Cancer: A Cost–Consequence Analysis

open access: yesCurrent Oncology, 2011
Background: In patients with advanced gastroesophageal cancer, the phase III Randomized ECF for Advanced and Locally Advanced Esophagogastric Cancer 2 (REAL-2) trial demonstrated equivalent clinical efficacy when capecitabine (x) was substituted for 5-fluorouracil (5FU) in the epirubicin–cisplatin–5FU (ECF) regimen.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

PROBABILISTIC COST EFFECTIVENESS IN AGRICULTURAL NONPOINT POLLUTION CONTROL [PDF]

open access: yes
Conceptual weaknesses in the use of costs of average abatement as a measure of the cost effectiveness of agricultural nonpoint pollution control are examined. A probabilistic alternative is developed.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Cost–Consequence Analysis of Nitisinone for Treatment of Tyrosinemia Type I

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy, 2015
ABSTRACT Background: Tyrosinemia type I is a rare but severe genetic metabolic disorder. Nitisinone combined with a diet low in tyrosine and phenylalanine became first-line therapy in 1994. Objectives: To estimate the direct medical costs of health care services related to the treatment of tyrosinemia type I, taking into consideration the real ...

A bayesian model averaging approach with non-informative priors for cost-effectiveness analyses in health economics [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider the problem of assessing new and existing technologies for their cost-effectiveness in the case where data on both costs and effects are available from a clinical trial, and we address it by means of the cost-effectiveness acceptability curve.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
