The Development of Crassulacean Acid Metabolism (CAM) Photosynthesis in Cotyledons of the C4 Species, Portulaca grandiflora (Portulacaceae)

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Portulaca grandiflora simultaneously utilizes both the C4 and Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) photosynthetic pathways. Our goal was to determine whether CAM developed and was functional simultaneously with the C4 pathway in cotyledons of P ...

Effects of α-aminooxyacetic acid on the level of polyamines, anthocyanins and photosynthetic pigments in seedlings of common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench)

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2011
The present paper discusses the effects of α-aminooxyacetic acid (AOA) on contents of polyamines, anthocyanins, photosynthetic pigments and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase activity in seedlings of common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench).

Larval antibiosis to cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) is absent within oilseed rape (Brassica napus)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
We screened a panel of 98 Brassicaceae genotypes (97 Brassica napus and 1 Sinapis alba) for cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) larval antibiosis. We found limited evidence for antibiosis across B. napus but consistent antibiosis in S. alba. Brassicaceae relatives may therefore better inform resistance traits for breeding.

THE EFFECT OF GROWTH REGULATORS AND CULTURE CONDITIONS ON THE CALLUS INDUCTION IN TOMATO Lycopersicon Sp.

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2006
Effect of auxins: (NAA, IAA), cytokinin BAP and culture conditions (light, darkness) on callus induction in cotyledons of tomato cultivar ‘Maskotka’ and the wild form of Lycopersicon peruvianum was investigated.

The epidemiology of the blackleg pathogen, Leptosphaeria maculans, impacts fungicide resistance management strategies

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Understanding how infection timing drives disease is essential for the development of fungicide resistance management strategies. For blackleg disease of canola, all infection timings can contribute to the following generation, therefore all fungicide applications have the ability to select for resistance.

Behavioural manipulation of the cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala L): Prospects for push–pull strategies in oilseed rape

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Behavioural manipulation of Psylliodes chrysocephala provides promising opportunities for sustainable pest management in oilseed rape systems. This review synthesises evidence on glucosinolates and their volatile isothiocyanate derivatives as phagostimulants and attractants, alongside the repellent or antifeedant effects of non‐host plants, plant ...

Intercropping with legumes can reduce insect pest pressure but does not increase yield in winter oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Intercropping winter oilseed rape with spring faba bean reduced cabbage stem flea beetle and pollen beetle damage but also reduced crop yield. Sowing the intercrop simultaneously with winter oilseed rape was essential to maximize crop protection against cabbage stem flea beetles. Abstract BACKGROUND Winter oilseed rape (WOSR, Brassica napus) is a major

Plant regeneration via direct shoot organogenesis from cotyledon explants of Bambara groundnut, Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2013
Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea [L.] Verdc.) is mainly grown for human consumption. However, several factors limit a wider adoption of the crop including the presence of antinutritional factors in the seeds that lower product quality and protein ...

Introgressed Brassica napus × Sinapis alba enhance resistance to the crucifer flea beetle (Phyllotreta cruciferae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Brassica napus lines with Sinapis alba introgressions enhanced resistance against Phyllotreta cruciferae, resulting in reduced feeding damage and improved seedling physiological performance. The introgressed lines showed strong potential as genetic resources for developing more resilient and sustainable canola varieties ...

Establishment of proliferating callus from roots, cotyledons and Hypocotyls of carob (ceratoniia siliqua L.) seedlings

open access: yes, 1981
Roots, cotyledons and hypocotyls of Ceratonia siliqua, excised from sterile seedlings produced ed callus on agar with a defined nutrient medium. Callus production takes place in 2-month old ciltures.
