A time dependent slip flow of a couple stress fluid between two parallel plates through state space

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science, 2018
In this work, the time dependent flow of an incompressible couple stress fluid passing two infinite parallel plates is investigated. The fluid motion is generated by applying a constant pressure gradient together with a sudden motion of one of the two ...

Steady streaming effect on the flow of a couple stress fluid through a constricted annulus

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2012
The oscillatory flow of an incompressible couple stress fluid through an annulus with mild constriction at the outer wall is considered. The mean pressure drops and the mean wall shear stress are calculated across the constricted region.

Thermodynamics Analysis of Radiative Hydromagnetic Couple Stress Fluid through a Channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work applies second law of thermodynamics to analyse the effect of radiation on electrically conducting couple stress fluid through a channel. A constant magnetic field is introduced across the flow channel and the resulting Navier- Stokes and ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Hall Current and Joule Heating Effects on Flow of Couple Stress Fluid with Entropy Generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this work, an analytical study of the effects of Hall current and Joule heating on the entropy generation rate of couple stress fluid is performed. It is assumed that the applied pressure gradient induces fluid motion.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Rotatory Thermosolutal Convection in a Couple-Stress Fluid

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 2009
Abstract The thermosolutal instability of couple-stress fluid in the presence of uniform vertical rotation is considered. Following the linearized stability theory and normal mode analysis, the dispersion is obtained. For the case of stationary convection, the stable solute gradient and rotation have stabilizing effects on the system ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Influence of couple stress and magnetic fluid on the performance of step slider bearing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering
This theoretical investigation delves into the performance of step slider bearings, considering the influence of couple stress and magnetic fluid as the lubricating medium.

Effect of Couple Stress Lubrication on Symmetric Hole-Entry Hybrid Journal Bearing

open access: yesTribology Online, 2017
The present study deals with capillary compensated symmetric hole-entry hybrid journal bearing under couple stress lubricant. Reynolds equation has been modified considering couple stress lubricant in the bearing system. The Galerkin’s Technique has been
