Fundamental solutions for isotropic size-dependent couple stress elasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fundamental solutions for two- and three-dimensional linear isotropic size-dependent couple stress elasticity are derived, based upon the decomposition of displacement fields into dilatational and solenoidal components.

On the microscopic interpretation of stress and couple stress

open access: yes, 2003
Exact continuum forms of balance (for mass, linear momentum, and tensor-valued moment of momentum) are established as relations between weighted spatial averages of corpuscular quantities computed at any supra-molecular length scale. Explicit expressions

Profiling neoadjuvant therapy response in rectal cancer using meta‐analysis of publicly available transcriptomic RNA‐seq datasets

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates publicly available transcriptomic datasets to identify molecular signatures associated with response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced rectal cancer. By analyzing a combination of multiple cohorts with bioinformatics approaches, we reveal biological pathways and immune‐related features that may improve ...

Theoretical analysis of effect of MHD, couple stress and slip velocity on squeeze film lubrication of rough Triangular plates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
In this study, Christensen's stochastic theory is utilized on rough surfaces' hydrodynamic lubricating effect to examine how surface roughness, couple stress fluid, slip velocity, magnetohydrodynamic (MHD), and the triangular surface interact.

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Vibration Characteristics of Piezoelectric Microbeams Based on the Modified Couple Stress Theory

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2014
The vibration behavior of piezoelectric microbeams is studied on the basis of the modified couple stress theory. The governing equations of motion and boundary conditions for the Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam models are derived using Hamilton’s ...
