Free vibration of anisotropic single-walled carbon nanotube based on couple stress theory for different chirality

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2017
In the present work, using the couple stress theory, a new model is provided for vibrating behavior of anisotropic carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotubes have many applications, and careful analysis of their behavior is important. So far, using the isotropic

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Couple-level minority stress and mental health among people in same-sex relationships: Extending minority stress theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We simultaneously examined the effects of individual- and couple-level minority stressors on mental health among people in same-sex relationships. Individual-level minority stressors emerge from the stigmatization of sexual minority individuals; couple ...

Investigating of size-dependent buckling and instability caused by support forces and electrostatic field in porous annular microplates [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی مکانیک شریف
In this paper, the static behavior, instability and buckling in porous micro plates under electrostatic field are investigated based on the modified couple stress theory and with regard to modeling, determining equations and solution methods.

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

Mixed Convective Flow of Unsteady Hydromagnetic Couple Stress Fluid Through a Vertical Channel Filled with Porous Medium

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, the mixed convective flow of an electrically conducting, viscous incompressible couple stress fluid through a vertical channel filled with a saturated porous medium has been investigated.

Couple experiences of provider-initiated couple HIV testing in an antenatal clinic in Lusaka, Zambia: lessons for policy and practice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: Couple HIV testing has been recognized as critical to increase uptake of HIV testing, facilitate disclosure of HIV status to marital partner, improve access to treatment, care and support, and promote safe sex. The Zambia national protocol on

Interfacial crack analysis in layered media using couple-stress elasticity and the displacement discontinuity method

open access: yesTạp chí Khoa học và Công nghệ
Interfacial cracks between dissimilar materials represent a critical failure mechanism in layered structural systems such as coatings, composite laminates, and micro-structured materials. However, classical elasticity theory cannot adequately capture the

Castration‐resistant prostate cancer cells are addicted to the high activity of cyclin‐dependent kinase 2

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that emergence of castration‐resistant prostate (CRPC) is associated with significant upregulation of cyclins that positively regulate cyclin‐dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) and concomitant downregulation of CDK4 cyclins. This renders CRPC cells dependent on the high activity of CDK2, and CDK2 inhibitors synergistically sensitize CRPC cells to both ...

Mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities of the ribotoxic stress response in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer cells' high translational demand creates opportunities to therapeutically target ribosome function. Ribosome stalling and collisions activate ZAKα and the ribotoxic stress response (RSR), which can trigger rapid, p53‐independent apoptosis in cancer.
