Coupled-inductor rectification and cycloconversion

APEC '88 Third Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 1988
AC-to-DC rectifiers and polyphase AC-to-DC cycloconverters are derived from the basic DC-to-DC converters by the addition of negatively coupled inductors with a minimal number of switching devices. The circuits also use space and time-multiplexed magnetics to handle the multiple inputs and outputs.

DC chopper with coupled-inductor commutation

International Journal of Electronics, 1984
A novel coupled-inductor commutation circuit is described. The circuit may also be used for inverters. It uses only two auxiliary thyristors, each operating in alternate cycles and eliminating the need for reversal of the commutating capacitor voltage. Trapped energy is fed back to the source.

Evaluation of coupled inductor Voltage Regulators

2008 Twenty-Third Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2008
Usually for a CPU voltage regulator (VR), there are several different coupled inductor VR setups to improve the CPU VR performance. For example, there are three different coupled inductor VR setups for a 6 phase CPU VR: 3*2 phase coupled inductor VR, 2*3 phase coupled inductor VR and 1*6 phase coupled inductor VR.

Analysis of the Interleaved Isolated Boost Converter With Coupled Inductors

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2015
This paper analyzes the interleaved boost with coupled inductors (IBCI) converter, which is an isolated topology that is suitable for high step-up applications. Two main contributions are given: an exhaustive steady-state analysis and an accurate small-signal model.

A novel coupled inductor for interleaved converters

2010 Twenty-Fifth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2010
Aiming to reduce the volume and weight further, a novel coupled inductor is proposed in this paper. The implementation approaches and the operation principles are analyzed in detail along with the comparison analysis with three-leg coupled inductor.

Coupled-inductor based multilevel inverter

2017 14th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON), 2017
In this paper, a new hybrid coupled inductor multilevel inverter (HCIMLI) is proposed. The common characteristic of the coupled inductor inverters is to provide parallel paths for the output current. Therefore, the switching devices operate in lower current rate compared to the rated output current.

An Improved Current-Doubler with Coupled Inductors

2006 CES/IEEE 5th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2006
In this paper, an improved current-doubler rectifier with coupled inductors is proposed, which can extend duty ratio to reduce the peak current through the isolation transformer and to lower output current ripple. Additionally, passive lossless snubbers are introduced to reduce reverse recovery loss and clamp the voltage spike across the rectifier ...

Coupled inductor characterization and SPICE modeling

Fifth Annual Proceedings on Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 1990
A complete coupled inductor characterization method, including leakage flux, is described, and its SPICE model is presented. Another SPICE model is developed for p-p ripple current determination in the windings of the coupled inductor in a switching converter and its use is extended to AC stability and audiosusceptibility analyses. >

Coupled-Inductor Inversion, Rectification and Cycloconversion

1986
A new PWM approach using three state switching of negatively coupled inductors can be applied to any basic dc-to-dc converter to form single-phase dc-to-ac inverters. Current reference programming gives improvements in linearity, small-signal dynamics, and pulsed-load response. The current programming loops of the flyback and boost inverters are stable

Coupled-Inductor Magnetics in Power Electronics

1987
Leakages are inseparably associated with magnetic circuits and are always thought of in three different negative ways: either you have them and you don't want them (transformers), or you don't have them but want them (to limit transformer short circuit currents), or you have them and want them, but you don't have them in the right amount (coupled ...
