Nucleotides as an Anti‐Aging Supplementation in Older Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial (TALENTs study)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The TALENTs randomized controlled trial evaluates the potential of nucleotides supplementation as an anti‐aging intervention in older adults. After 19 weeks, nucleotides supplementation significantly reduces DNA methylation age, suggesting a delay in epigenetic aging, and improves insulin sensitivity without severe adverse events.

Energy balancing of covariate distributions

open access: yesJournal of Causal Inference
Bias in causal comparisons has a correspondence with distributional imbalance of covariates between treatment groups. Weighting strategies such as inverse propensity score weighting attempt to mitigate bias by either modeling the treatment assignment ...

Modeling Covariate Effects in Group Independent Component Analysis with Applications to Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Independent component analysis (ICA) is a powerful computational tool for separating independent source signals from their linear mixtures. ICA has been widely applied in neuroimaging studies to identify and characterize underlying brain functional ...

Entropy balancing is doubly robust

open access: yes, 2016
Covariate balance is a conventional key diagnostic for methods used estimating causal effects from observational studies. Recently, there is an emerging interest in directly incorporating covariate balance in the estimation.

Covariant types

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 1997
AbstractThe covariant type system is an impredicative system that is rich enough to represent some polymorphism on inductive types, such as lists and trees, and yet is simple enough to have a set-theoretic semantics. Its chief novelty is to replace function types by transformation types, which denote parametric functions.

Genetic Regulation of Alternative Polyadenylation Provides Novel Insights into Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Non‐small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Compared with the non‐risk G allele of rs9606, the risk T allele of rs9606 decreases the binding affinity of NUDT21 for LYRM4, triggering 3'UTR shortening that stabilizes LYRM4 mRNA and elevates its expression. Increased LYRM4 expression promoted malignant phenotypes of non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells through modulating ferroptosis, supporting

Asymptotic Theory of Rerandomization in Treatment-Control Experiments

open access: yes, 2017
Although complete randomization ensures covariate balance on average, the chance for observing significant differences between treatment and control covariate distributions increases with many covariates.

Genomic Variation Underpins Genetic Divergence and Differing Salt Resilience in Sesbania bispinosa

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sesbania, a leguminous halophyte, thrives in saline soils. Comparative genomics reveals key genomic variations—particularly chromosomal inversions—are identified as contributors to population differentiation and salt resilience. These findings advance the understanding of genomic variation driving evolution and phenotypic differentiation and offer ...

Multi‐Omics and ‐Organ Insights into Energy Metabolic Adaptations in Early Sepsis Onset

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that patients at risk of sepsis have a distinct metabolite and lipid signature, including serine and aminoadipic acid, in their serum before clinical diagnosis. A mouse model of sepsis with a compatible serum signature reveals underlying metabolic changes, including mitochondrial adaptation, altered serine‐dependent purine metabolism ...
