Cow's milk is increasingly suggested to play a role in the development of chronic degenerative, non-communicable disorders whereas goat's milk is advocated as having several health benefits. Cow's milk is a rich and cheap source of protein and calcium, and a valuable food for bone health.

Sir .—I was disappointed that chronic bronchitis induced by cow's milk allergy was not mentioned in the article by Smith et al. 1 I noted that 12 of the 20 children reported in the article developed onset of symptoms in the first year of life. In a study of asthma and cow's milk allergy, Brasher 2 noted a very high incidence of cow's milk allergy in ...

It seems incongruous that in the issue of November, 1969, there are two separate articles with regard to use of cow's milk. In the first, Drs. Berenberg, Mandell, and Fellers1, again emphasize the supposedly well known hazard of using high solute skimmed cow's milk, either boiled or non-boiled, in the treatment of acute diarrhea of infancy. The all too

In this chapter I take up as an allegorical focus a Hindu spirit story, regarding a disciple’s relationship with a master around cows and milk and milking. I apply elements of this experience to the work of teaching and psychotherapy and supervision, using the landscape of a supervised therapist and her effort to wed experience with conceptualization.

Selenium content of human milk, cow's milk and cow's milk infant formulas
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1978The selenium content of human milk, cow's milk and cow's milk infant formula were estimated by instrumental neutron activation analysis. The highest values were found in 3 samples of human colostrum (524--865 x 10(-9) g/g dry weight). There was a significant decrease with increasing time post partum.

Cow's milk IgE and IgG antibody responses to cow's milk formulas
Allergy, 1999For comparison of the antigenicity and allergenicity of three cow's milk formulas, serum IgE antibodies to cow's milk, β‐lactoglobulin and casein, and IgG antibodies to β‐lactoglobulin were analyzed in 94 infants with a family history of allergy. They were participating in a randomized trial comparing the allergy prophylactic effect of feeding an ...

Passage of cows' milk protein in breast milk
Clinical & Experimental Allergy, 1984SummaryAn enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay has been used to search for lactoglobulin and bovine casein in breast milk. Initial results suggest this may be a simple and useful method for such studies. Detection and prevention of antigen passage could influence the prevalence of atopic disease.

Reintroduction of Cow’s Milk in Milk-Allergic Children
Endocrine‚ Metabolic & Immune Disorders-Drug Targets, 2014Even though cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) is one of the most common food allergies in childhood, its prognosis is generally good and cow's milk (CM) is usually reintroduced in the patient's diet. The natural history of CMPA shows heterogeneity and is closely related to the immunological and clinical phenotype by which CMPA presents.

Cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) is a common condition encountered in children with incidence estimated as 2% to 7.5% in the first year of life. Formula and breast-fed babies can present with symptoms of CMPA. It is important to accurately diagnose CMPA to avoid the consequences of either under- or overdiagnosis.
