Consequences of altered eicosanoid patterns for nociceptive processing in mPGES-1-deficient mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-dependent prostaglandin (PG) E2 synthesis in the spinal cord plays a major role in the development of inflammatory hyperalgesia and allodynia. Microsomal PGE2 synthase-1 (mPGES-1) isomerizes COX-2-derived PGH2 to PGE2.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

A two-step feature selection procedure for relevant markers of Squamous Cell Lung Carcinoma using different survival models

open access: yesHealthcare Analytics, 2023
There are potentially infinite gene expression markers for Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. This results in a high-dimensional data with a large number of features. The selection of relevant markers for analysis is thus, of utmost importance.

The Cox model is better than the Fine and Gray model when estimating relative revision risks from arthroplasty register data

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica, 2017
Background and purpose — Analysis of the revision-free survival of knee and hip prostheses has traditionally been performed using Kaplan–Meier analysis and Cox regression.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Effect of Cyclooxygenase(COX)-1 and COX-2 inhibition on furosemide-induced renal responses and isoform immunolocalization in the healthy cat kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: The role of cyclooxygenase(COX)-1 and COX-2 in the saluretic and renin-angiotensin responses to loop diuretics in the cat is unknown. We propose in vivo characterisation of isoform roles in a furosemide model by administering non-steroidal ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Performance of the marginal structural cox model for estimating individual and joined effects of treatments given in combination

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2017
BackgroundThe Marginal Structural Cox Model (Cox-MSM), an alternative approach to handle time-dependent confounder, was introduced for survival analysis and applied to estimate the joint causal effect of two time-dependent nonrandomized treatments on ...

Bootstrapping a change-point Cox model for survival data. [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Statistics, 2013
This paper investigates the (in)-consistency of various bootstrap methods for making inference on a change-point in time in the Cox model with right censored survival data. A criterion is established for the consistency of any bootstrap method.

Estimates of influenza vaccine effectiveness in primary care in Scotland vary with clinical or laboratory endpoint and method : experience across the 2010/11 season [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
