Using DOProC method in reliability assessment of steel elements exposed to fatigue

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Fatigue crack damage depends on a number of stress range cycles. This is a time factor in the course of reliability for the entire designed service life.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Research on hydrogen-induced cracking behavior of normalized pipeline steel

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Hydrogen sulfide corrosion test was used to test the hydrogen-induced cracking sensitivity of the normalized BNS pipeline steel. The microstructure and morphology of hydrogen induced crack(HIC) of the normalized BNS pipeline steel after hydrogen sulfide ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Peridynamics analysis of crack propagation in concrete considering random aggregate distribution

open access: yesScientific Reports
The mechanical properties and fracture behavior of concrete are controlled by aggregate characteristics, and the distribution of aggregates is uncertain. Traditional studies on concrete crack propagation mainly conduct deterministic analysis based on the

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Influence of different sizes of concrete and roller compacted concrete on double-K fracture parameters

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2015
Affected by physical properties of various components, characteristics and stress states of junction surface and other multiple factors, concrete, as a kind of multi-phase composite material, has complicated failure mechanism, thus making its fracture ...

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Size effects in fatigue crack growth in confined volumes: A microbending case study on nanocrystalline nickel

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Mechanical size effects are a well known phenomenon when the sample volume is reduced or the characteristic length of the microstructure is changed. While size effects in micropillar compression (smaller is stronger) or due to grain refinement (Hall ...
