Critical crack tip opening displacement for polymer composites
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1989Abstract Applicability of critical stress intensity factor ( K IC ) and/or critical crack up opening displacement (CTODc for epoxy and polyester polymer composites (PC) in mode I Fracture are investigated. Both unreinforced and glass fiber reinforced polymer composite systems are studied using single edge notched beams in three-point and ...

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2011
Abstract In this paper a new method is presented to determine the crack-tip opening displacement (CTOD) for the center cracked plate with uniaxial uniform tension load. The maximum crack opening displacement (MCOD) is adopted to estimate CTOD. Based on the series of calculation results by elastic–plastic finite element simulation, an explicit ...

The effect of shallow cracks on crack tip opening displacement
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1986Abstract Further results given in the present paper confirm that shallow cracks have larger crack tip opening displacements at initiation than deep cracks. This difference in behaviour is shown to be principally caused by the different hydrostatic stresses existing at the tips of shallow and deep cracks.

Crack Tip Opening Displacement of X100 SAWL Pipe
Advanced Materials Research, 2011The fracture toughness of different zones of X100 SAWL pipe was studied by three-point bend test method under different temperature. At the same temperature, the crack propagation resistance and tear modulus of X100 SAWL pipe distributed as: base metal>HAZ>weld bead, and the distribution of the CTOD value of X100 SAWL pipe is :base metal >weld
