Lysine acetyltransferase 5 in EGFR mutated non-small cell lung cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Histone modifications are crucial in activities such as transcriptional activation, gene silencing, and epigenetic cellular memory. In particular, lysine acetylation via lysine (K) acetyltransferases (KATs) has been implicated in cancer development ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

A Simulation Study to Investigate the Usefulness of a Novel Stricture Tool for Training Wire Guided Balloon Dilation

open access: yesJournal of Digestive Endoscopy, 2022
Background and Aims The training in esophageal stricture dilation is difficult to obtain and have few simulation models. The aim of the study was to evaluate a novel stricture simulation for training a wire-guided, controlled radial expansile (CRE ...

The nature of the low-frequency emission of M51: First observations of a nearby galaxy with LOFAR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The grand-design spiral galaxy M51 was observed with the LOFAR High Frequency Antennas (HBA) and imaged in total intensity and polarisation. This observation covered the frequencies between 115 MHz and 175 MHz.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Investigation of Antibiotics Susceptibility and Resistance Pattern of ESBL and CRE Producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia Isolates from Northern Region of Saudi Arabia

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
The presence of ESBLs and CRE in E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae poses a significant challenge in healthcare and community settings. These enzymes can confer resistance to multiple antibiotics, limiting treatment options for infections caused by these ...

Emergence of a Clinical Escherichia coli Sequence Type 131 Strain Carrying a Chromosomal blaKPC–2 Gene

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Objectives: Bacteria carrying the Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase genes have rapidly spread worldwide and have become a great threat to public health. The blaKPC–2 gene has been primarily located on plasmids cocirculating in various strains. However,
