Creasing in microscale, soft static friction [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Utilizing colloidal probe, lateral force microscopy and simultaneous confocal microscopy, combined with finite element analysis, we investigate how a microparticle starts moving laterally on a soft, adhesive surface.

Effects of calcium on cell wall metabolism enzymes and expression of related genes associated with peel creasing in Citrus fruits [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2022
Fruit peel creasing is a serious pre-harvest physiological disorder in citrus, influencing fruit quality, storage, and yield. Four- and eight-year-old ‘Hongjiang’ oranges grafted onto Canton lemon rootstocks were treated with calcium and calcium ...

Crease

open access: yesPhenomenology & Practice, 2022
This experimental paper proposes a shared exploration of the crease as a tactile, existential, and artistic phenomenon. It takes Roland Barthes’ definition of his left-handedness as “a tenuous and persistent crease” as a basis. Hence, this phenomenon is a minor but stubborn mark on the self, a superficial matter.

Effects of initial imperfection and mesh resolution on wrinkle and crease analyses

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2021
This study investigates the effects of initial imperfection and mesh resolution on the wrinkling and creasing. Finite element analyses are conducted to simulate compression behaviors of an incompressible Neo-Hookean elastic plane with a V-shaped notch as

Estimation of bending characteristics of creased paperboard using 45° tapered groove against unbalanced punch indentation

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2020
In a creased line processing of paperboard, deviation error between a groove of counter plate and a creasing knife is important for assuring the quality of creasing profile.

Economic crisis, poor governance and the rise of populism: the case of Greece [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The eurozone crisis has become associated with the rise of populism across Europe as it has coincided with in- creasing electoral support for political actors who seek to return politics back to ‘the people’.

Experimental study of structural characteristics, dimensional change in washing, non-creasing properties and air permeability of Swiss double piqué flax knit fabrics

open access: yesJournal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics, 2023
The structural characteristics, dimensional change after four washing cycles, non-creasing properties and air permeability of Swiss double piqué knitted fabrics from cotton/flax (70% cotton, 30% flax), PAN/flax (70% PAN, 30% flax) and 100% flax yarns ...

Elastocapillary Crease

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2019
A material under compression often forms creases. When the material is elastic and soft, the nucleation of creases depends on both elasticity and capillarity. Here we introduce a model of elastocapillary creases. The model assumes that the surface tension remains constant on the free surface, but may change upon self-contact.
