Self‐Immolative Activatable Nanoassembly toward Immuno‐Photodynamic Therapy in TME

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A quinone methide‐gated, self‐immolative, H2O2‐responsive nano‐photosensitizer (Pyz/PS) is developed for targeted immuno‐photodynamic therapy. Pyz/PS selectively activates within tumor microenvironments, restores photosensitizer activity, generates ROS, and depletes intracellular GSH, enhancing oxidative stress.

Implementation of Drug‐Induced Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Kidney Injury in Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A modular Muscle–Kidney proximal tubule‐on‐a‐chip integrates 3D skeletal muscle and renal proximal tubule tissues to model drug‐induced rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury. The coculture system enables dynamic tissue interaction, functional contraction monitoring, and quantification of nephrotoxicity, revealing drug side effect‐induced metabolic ...

Self‐Feeding of Engineered Tissues via Controlled Glucose Release Facilitates Survival and Vascularization of Living Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Engineering living matter has great clinical potential to deliver functional replacement organs. However, clinical translation remains hampered by the current inability to maintain viability of clinically relevant‐sized constructs. During the pre‐vascular phase, implants rely on nutrient diffusion for survival, which is insufficient at ...

Creatine uptake regulates CD8 T cell antitumor immunity

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2019
Di Biase et al. show for the first time that creatine acts as a “molecular battery” conserving bioenergy to power CD8 T cell activities; that creatine uptake is critical in supporting antitumor T cell immunity; and that creatine supplementation holds ...

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

Supplement use in sport: is there a potentially dangerous incongruence between rationale and practice? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: Supplement use by athletes is complex and research supports the alarming notion of misinformed decisions regarding supplements. HYPOTHESIS: A frequent divergence between the type of supplements chosen by athletes and the rationale dictating ...
